My laptop shut off while my battery had 50% power still left. It sgut off without warning and now even when I plug the AC into it, it still won't turn on and I have no blinking lights that would indicate that its charging. What kind of problem do you think I have? Cheap fix?

You may try draining the battery with a small light bulb, like a Christmas Tree light or many in Series to speed it up. Then try to Recharge. I not remember but I think in Power Settings (Control Panel) you set the laptop so it not shut down regardless of battery power, let it drain the heck out of it!!!! What bad about these batteries is they need drained to last. Many people set the Power Setting to warn at 20=30% and shut down at 10% or whatever, it not matter. Then the computer see the aging battery losing power sooner and sooner and usually prompt for a recharge before the battery really down and it a downhill from there. May get 1-2 years from a battery that should last 5 at least!!! I speak from experience, but, because of cost for new batteries I use a Lawnmower battery now when mobile, it last 5 + years for $20. Never need a recharge until I sleep. Almost unlimited use, to a point. But, that another story.

earlier pondering a clean battery, run the pc on the battery until eventually it shuts itself down. Then plug interior the AC Adapter and permit it to can charge for 6 hours earlier employing it. this could frequently re-calibrate the battery so this is going to settle for a complete can charge. 2nd the potential adapters on present day laptops do no longer over can charge a battery, at a definite factor they act like a trickle charger to maintain the voltage interior the battery. If this would not help with the subject, then a clean battery may be the respond.
