Its not dangerous to sleep on your tummy at all, it just may get uncomfortable. It is however healthiest to sleep on your side, and not on your back at all

All the experts and the books urge you to avoid sleeping on your back the further along you are in your pregnancy, due to that they say the weight of your enlarged uterus will decrease the blood flow in a major artery that runs behind your uterus.

Personally, I don't buy it... women have been sleeping on their backs for how long? I'm not a doctor, so please don't take my doubt for solid advice.

Everything I've read states that if you fall asleep and wake up on your back, roll over to your side, but don't fret over it. Sleeping on your back does not cause miscarriage. If you DO decrease blood flow enough to be a problem, your body will notice, and you'll wake up dizzy. Simply roll over on your side, no problem!

At less than 12 weeks, I don't think your uterus is big enough to cause any such problem. :) I've been having trouble with my sciatic nerve, and sleeping on my back is the only way I can get relief. I haven't had any problems, the baby is doing fine, and my doctor says I'm doing great.

Good luck! Do all the reading you can, go with your instincts, and don't stress out. :)

This is not a silly question. It is fine to sleep on your belly at this time. The baby is not big enough to feel anything from it at this time. I would try to sleep in other positions because there is gonna come a time in the near future that you will not be able to sleep on your stomach at all and you want to get some type of sleep.

It is not at all a silly question. It's a very good question asked by many women during the pregnancy. I don't think it makes difference if you sleep on your tummy during the pregnancy. But it definitely depends on the physical and healthy condition of the women during the pregnancy. I would definitely advise to seek doctor's advice (even though you were healthy and normal) if you have a slightest doubt on anything during the pregnancy. No its not dangerous to sleep on tummy while you are pregnant with time you will feel uncomfortable and you will adopt different position of sleeping. Later in pregnancy its safe to sleep on left side. If you sleep on right side use body pillow.Spartan

No, I did a few times. It's just not recommended. Start sleeping on your side so it's easier when you get bigger to stay there. Use pillows or rolled up towels to prop yourself onto your side. Also a pillow in between the knees is very comfortable on the hips.

Are you normally a tummy sleeper?

I don't think that sleeping on your belly for now is a problem. I know that they do try and get you to sleep on your sides mainly your left because of blood flow directly to the heart.

Right now though I think you should be fine....

Talk to your OBGYN :O)

It won't cause you to miscarry. It's just not recommended once you start showing...plus it's usually uncomfortable. Just be sure to prop yourself up with some pillows..try taking over the whole bed, see if you can find any other way to sleep that's more comfortable. Once you get bigger you won't be able to sleep on your stomach very well.

avoid sleeping on your tummy... its not good for your health. The best position is to lie down you back, with your feet spread apart. You may not be able to sleep initially but it would help in long run.

It really isn't dangerous anytime. That baby is surrounded by a lot of fluid. It will get nearly impossible soon, though. Kind of like trying to sleep with a watermelon in your pajamas!
