the two courts must determine who has jurisdiction. then that court will decide custody and support payments. if the children have been with you from birth you will have soul custody.

Man that is hard. I dont have advice, but I just want to wish you luck. This sort of thing happens all the time. I dont know how people can morally do it, let alone legally... The kids are his to. How can they just walk away? I totally understand where you are coming from. I would try to find a women's center near you and ask is they have legal advice. It is usually fairly inexpensive at that kind of place and they have experience with this too. Sorry if any of this doesnt make sense. I am really tired...

Friend of the family years ago lost his sons to his druggie, drunk ex wife in Oregon. He moved to Washington after the court told him to pay a bunch of money. The kids- after a week alone, jumped on a bus (this was a lot of years back), got to Dad's and lived with him for ten years (or more).
During that time period he tried to get the judge to drop the child support (the kids were living with him, schooling in washington, living there, Mom did time in prison in California), but the judge refused. Years later ex wife got him arrested and imprisoned for failure to pay, the kids stood at Dad's side of the court, did their time on the wittness stand. Don't recall how much time he got, but she ended up with a mid six figure number in back child support.
Child support court stuff might have changed sense then, but I doubt it
Good luck

Where are you currently living? I would talk to an attorney. You should be collecting. Your tax return was intercepted and will be sent to him for the back support. Go to your local job center and see what child support there will do. Be careful and quick they can issue warrents and all kinds of ugliness for arrears. Best wishes!!!

Get a lawyer. If you were trying to handle this through a state agency, they are obviously not doing their job. If you have custody of your children, you shouldn't have to pay to keep them. Talk to a lawyer, and they should be able to advise you what steps to take.

That would mean you'd have to mail a check to yourslef. Save the 42 cents (or whatever stamps cost now).
