maybe it's both.
it is a way to survive. there are so many truths you do not need to be reminded of, otherwise we could not function. sometimes it is better to lie and save ourselves and others the trouble of worrying about matters not really relevant or within their control than to live in incapacitating worry.
sometimes, it really is a case of "you can't handle the truth", "need to know", "what they don't know can't hurt them". some problems can be fixed with a lie rather than taking an unnecessarily hard and damaging way out
those are the white lies of life we cannot live without.
unfortunately we do seem to have an inherent tendency to lie even when not necessary, to present ourselves in a better light than s real, to fix the problem with a lie than take the hard way out even when not strictly necessary.

Life isn't full of lies; I know you've heard the phrase, "life is what you make it". Adam and Eve are a prime example of this phrase because once they ate that forbidden fruit, they noticed they had no clothes on and everything else. Adam and Eve are the people who made life a quest for knowledge. God wanted them to follow his lead in the quest for truth but they disobeyed God which created the world which we all see here and now. So, I guess you can say it's all in our blood because Adam and Eve were all of our ancestors and this is what they created as a result. This is also a way some of the people in today's world survive.

No one is purely righteous in this world... and sometimes we talk ourselves into believing that a made up lie will work better than the truth.
Some lies are just to mask a truth that may hurt someone else and/or get someone in trouble.
Some lie to make themselves, someone else or something look/feel better... some people are just plain stupid and lie all the time!

People tell lies because they are afraid. Or because they need to have extra emotions. Or they are ashamed. Sometimes the reality is too dark and boring and it seems better to use your imagination not to see it. Sometimes lies is better that truth.

I was just discussing this with a friend earlier this evening.
My thought is that to reveal the truth takes more courage and bravery of a person. To lie is easier...the person can still keep themselves hidden...more cowardly.

i think because they are in denial of something of somewhat that they have to make themselves look good and actually lie to people, also maybe they are so miserable in life and they would lie to people to make friendship, sometimes i see that in people , they are very unhappy and put up a front, so they lie about things, but what do i know/ i'm not an expert. i just see how life is around me..

I agree with the second guy. Most people are too afraid of the truth, and others don't want to hurt the other person, or get hurt from the person.

people are trying to manipulate you (tv, media, govt, sales man) and you fool yourself too. stop doing that and everyone elses lies will often seem silly and obvious. Watch Malcolm X and the Matrix, an odd combo i know but there is truth there.

People tend to view things in a way that suits them, even if it is wrong. Sometimes you need to look a little deeper and the truth is there, its always there.

What do you mean? Life never lies. Though maybe we lie to ourselves sometimes about what life tries to tell us.
