Ditto. That was the name of it, Julia. And her son's name was Corey. She was absolutely gorgeous. And it was the first tv show that I can remember as a child that actually portrayed a black person as poised, and intelligent!, and a female to boot!!! Before that, all blacks (especially females) were portrayed as maids, or servants, or Aunt Jemima or stupid entertainers with no brains, except for I do remember Bill Cosby coming on the scene at that time as well, and he was highly respected. And forgive my ignorance, but growing up in rural upstate ny in the 50's and never having seen a "real black person" in the flesh, you tend to believe the garbage you see on tv. That show was excellent. And for the first time as a child, I saw a real person, and not some stupid stereotype.

The sitcom was called "Julia." Diahann Carroll played Julia Baker. Her husband had been killed in Vietnam. She was African-American, a nurse, and trying to provide for her son, Corey Baker, and teach him about prejudice.
