I've been thinking about going to college and I really dont know what I should do. The only thing that grabs my attention is marriage and family counseling. Can anyone tell me more about this career? About how much do therapists get paid? Well thanks guys. Peace out!

Dear Lala, suggest you talk to your high school college counselor. College itself takes 4-5 years to get a bachelors degree. If you want the best paying jobs it really helps to get a graduate degree. If you want to become an MFT you will need a Masters in Counseling Psychology, or equivalent. It takes at least 2, perhaps 3 years...then you have to perform 3000 hours of practice (in California) to get your license. Talk to a graduate school and find out their requirements. As for income, professionals with graduate degrees can generally make an income of six figures. Generally. Some don't, some do. But it's not just the money, you have to really enjoy your work. If you are looking for money, go to law school. If you are looking for job satisfaction, look around until you find something that fires your passion. Without passion it's only work.

You'll need to get at least an MA, so be prepared for graduate work. It would be best if you got a Phd in Couselling psychology, but to do this sort of work, it's not necessary. You may also want to think about looking into social work.

As for the pay, it's decent and in some cases very good.

Definitely use your search engine! You'll find plenty of information on college websites and links to other sites as well. Sorry, but I'm too lazy to look it all up myself. You can do it.

Yes you should!

Judging from the Q & A here you will get a lot of clients and make a lot of money!!

PS: Maybe you should be a divorce lawyer instead! Good business too!
