Actually, no. First cousins are seperated enough that children being 'messed up' won't occur unless there is some sort of recessive flaw in their familial genes eg. hemophilia. Look up british royalty for a picture of this.
While marrying one's first cousin is taboo in our culture, scientifically and biologically, it is not nearly as bad as we pretend.

Some studies say the risk of birth defects is the same as a woman giving birth after 40. Other studies report a higher percentage of babies born with birth defects. Many people have married their first cousins and had children, even famous people. It was very common years ago. Einstein and Darwin both married their first cousin.

20 percent of the worlds population marry their cousins with no major problems. Inbreeding may let bad recessive genes materialize but they have to have the genes to begin with for there to be a problem.

First let me say that it is disgusting! I don't think their kids will be messed up because they adopted but who knows, one day she might end up pregnant and who knows what kind of disabilities the baby may have?! The family doesn't even know, im sure they would rethink their decision if they knew what kind of "family" this was. They give keeping it all in the family a new meaning! LOL

The kids won't necessarily be messed up but they have a very high chance of having some sort of genetic disease or disorder.
