In my opinion based on experience, you can do good in any city as long as the establishment has consistent business. I live in Odessa, Texas (home of the movie "Friday Night Lights"), which has a population of less than 90,000 people and work in a "mom and pop" Italian restaurant which is busy all the time. I often make over $100 a night and on occasion have made twice that because THE RESTAURANT HAS CONSISTENT BUSINESS. Etiquette, poise, showmanship and restaurant tables occupied with customers are really all you need to make good money in ANY CITY. The wages that I make are exceptional for the city I reside in.....

I'm going to have to say the bay area of CA. I have a friend who works full time in SF as a server and lives in Napa Valley. She can afford anything she wants from tips. Like $500 a night on SLOW nights! And that doesn't include her paycheck!

If you're that great, you'll make a bundle here! Plus the weather's nice.

I'd have to say Las Vegas. You get a lot of high rollers and a lot of people who win big. Las Vegas has changed from the old days where all it was for eating purposes was all you can eat buffets. Now it is filled with fantastic restaurants, expensive restaurants where people tend to get dressed up and really go to town. Of course you have the big losers, but you have a lot of the big winners and they are going to go out big and they are going to have to show off how much they won, and one of the ways they show off is big tips.
Think about it,if you are a great waitress you can clean up out there.
