the "42" you (understandably) hate to hear refers to the fact that the answer is in response to a question, and we have yet to phrase the ultimate question. until we do, do not expect to even begin to look for an the ultimate answer

if you know about 42 then you should also know that its really helpful to state your opinion on what the ultimate question is. since its subjective and all i think the answer is red, 1254, the letter s, and a fax machine divided by 2. did i mention the irony in putting a subjective question under philosophy?

The reason that existence exists is not due to brute facts (those that are explained away as being true because they just are).
To understand the reason for existence we must understand it's polar opposite: non-existence.
The reason things aren't non-existence is because if non-existence was the state of normality then non-existance would not exist. Which is an oxymoron.
Therefor: Existence exists because it's opposite can not.
