There are on most campuses in San Francisco gay student alliances or Gay-Straight Alliances. If you're going to a Roman Catholic school, it's possible that they will not allow such an organization, but you can contact the GSA at another campus to find out who are the informal organization leaders on your own campus.

Hi well 1st off there are GSA groups on most campuses like another person wrote however that doesn't mean all the gay ppl go to them some are not out or just don't like them. the one on my campus only had about 12 members non of which i really clicked with as far as friendships but its worth checking out!
if you go to a religious school they won't have them and people will not be open. I'd suggest a transfer. A friend of mine attended a christian school her 1st semester and she felt it was very repressive.
P.S. 1 in 10 people are gay and thats not counting the ones who are afraide to say they are.

OMG! Of course you aren't the only gay person in college! College is full of gays! I only meet gay men, and I'm a straight girl, so that doesn't help me much. :)
Try acting like yourself. Be friendly to people. Somebody might find you. Find a gay community in your school - every college in the bay area has one, I'm sure. There are regular announcements about their activities on my school's website, and I'm just across the bay. You're going to school near the Castro. Go there, hang out and meet people, if you're old enough to drink there are always bars (I've been in some there), and when you meet people tell them where you go to school - maybe they can help you meet people at school.
Network! Put yourself out there! Be really open about who you are! You may have to put up with some crap, but at least people will feel comfortable being honest with you.
And, of course - don't forget to be safe! I've had so many close calls with my friends, don't become a statistic.

Your college will probably have a Gay-Straight Alliance organization on your campus. Many across the nation choose different titles such as "Project Rainbow," "Pride Alliance," "Common Ground," "Spectrum," or even the "Straight-Gay Alliance." It's a great way to get to know others like you, and get active with your school. For more information:

make an ad and post it on the ad thing in your school if there is one: looking for gay guy (that's just the essence, write whatever you feel like writing)and get a throw away mobilephone where the automatic voice says leave your message after the tone, and look who answers.
