Honestly, I think they were too drugged up to think that far ahead...most of them are corporate execs. now...they are 100 times worse than "the man" they used to protest..at least "the man" had pensions for his workers and didn't sell out the company everytime he could make a quick buck by doing so.
With a few exceptions, I think that is the most self centered, selfish generation this country has ever seen; but , their kids are still graduating...LOL

I never considered hippies to be more than those who were rebelling against society, family and other institutions. It was, a sense, many young whites who were dissatisfied with life as it existed and went a long way to prove a point.
Most hippies have settled down and lead traditional lives.
(Some still suffer from the excessive drug use.)
