"have you ever noticed that women and guys too flip their hair in front of their face or just over their eyes just to tuck it back behind their ears?"

what's up with that?

i notice a lot of things but this is one thing that stood out.
i thought hey that's a good question, maybe a little weird but it's related to something much more important.

don't know about everyone else but part of the reason I flick it over my eyes before tucking it is very practical. It is the result of a: pulling the hair from its base all the way to its ends to ensure it is taut behind the ear and hence more securely placed, and b: pulling the hair upward and across the head so that it is placed above the eyes thereby preventing the associated lock of hair from obstructing your view.

I also do occassionally twist my hair as a flirting habit but I thought you'd be interested in an answer from some other perspective.

What I was taught: whenever a guy (or girl) is attracted to someone, they touch their own hair: they'll flip some hair in front of face to show: "I'm sexy; " they'll tuck hair behind the ear to say: "I'm listening to you!!" I've seen girls (and guys) twirl their hair around their lil pinky, this says: "Oh! Don't I wish I can have him (or her)." If they are pulling at their hair (and some people do), they got a problem they are trying to figure out.

Yea, I've noticed that too.
I always thought it was one of many "body language" moves. Maybe to show off their lovely hair? Or to have something to do with their hands? Or a way to be friendly and open? If you're going to have a mane like that, I guess it makes sense to toss it.

I was reading an article on a new book that came out this year on how men and women behave in public, courting rituals, and other "non-verbal" ways that people communicate in social settings.

The "hair toss" can also be someone who is flirting with someone else.

People tend to push their hair back out of the way when in the presence of a loved one.

yes some people with long hair do that.

they do it to clean their vision, to show off their looks, or they are just fidgeting.

It is funny sometimes when girls sport bangs, and they think it looks good, but it is so uncomfortable for them they have to move it or else it will weigh on their lashes and get in their eyes. Silly!

I do that, and I have short hair.

I smooth my hair down and make it all neat like it's supposed to be just to have something to do with my hands. Then I push it back and mess it up again because that's what I do when I think.

Pretty stupid, isn't it?

because the hair gets in there eyes but the think they look good or cool so they just deal with it and constantly move it

I allways thought that it was a form of getting someone's attention. a little flick!... But you then gotta put your hair back... also a good excuse to glimps and see if your intended noticed...or didn't.

Womken play with their hair when they are interested in the man. I don't know what the heck the guys who do this are thinking.
