the person must be deemed as a danger to himself or others as a result of their mental state.
The person must be assessed by two doctors (one preferebly being their GP) the doctors must both be trained in this, they are known as section 12 doctors.
After the medical recommendations from the two doctors an approved social worker must then do an assessment any time up to 14 days after the two doctors.
All three assessors must agree and then the client will be put on a section 2 for assessment.

To be "sectioned" under the Mental Health Act you must be a danger either to yourself or others.

agree with ILBW my son has been sectioned twice under the mental health act both for six month`s because of cannabis
