I am not talking about a major disfiguring accident. I was thinking about one like mine where I may lose some hand function and I have a few scars. I may never be able to golf or play some sports again. But in appearance it looks OK. I may have to avoid jobs where lifting is required and there may be extended periods of pain. I am curious if people would label me as a freak from my disability.

Not at all.

There's someone out there for everyone, and appearance has little to do with that special bond that people have. If i found that bond with someone, I can honestly say I wouldn't give a damn if one of their hands was injured or not. I'd be too ecstatic to have found my "one."

And when you find the right person, they'll feel the same way.

As for other people, who cares?! You'll have your friends, family, and significant other who love you, there's no need to worry about what the general public thinks.

I could love a person..no matter what they have been thru or look like..if that person is the one for me then that's all that matters. Also I love many friends who have disabilites...what does it matter..one day I may be next...we never know. We seem to have a obsession with appearance.....what a shame...no matter how good one looks...that will not last..if you live long enough..age will take away alot of your looks..or a accident or illness..be beautiful inside..and you will always be beautiful!!!!!
You are no freak...and if someone thinks so...they do not deserve you period!
Ciao

Honey I'd label you as a freak but certainly not because of any accident. Based on some of the answers you have had to my questions... freak is a term of endearment.

All my friends are freaks ;)

First of all thats barely a disability!!! second of all.. if we were in a relationship when this happened it would make no difference to me. third of all..... if i just met you, regardless of whether i could tell there was something wrong with your hand right away or if i figured it out later on. still would make no difference... I'd like to think you were deeper then a wound on your hand.

yea i could, that shouldn't affect your love life. I have a scar on my face of when i was a kid and now people only notice it when i point it out.

i could, the outside is not as important because looks don't last forever but whats on the inside thats what counts.

That's not even a freaky disability.

Now, when your 3rd eye pops out of your head, then we need to break up.

Sure I could love a girl that has been in an accident and no you aren't a freak. I might however, need to get a second wife if I marred a woman like that just to help her around the house and things like that.
