I am 18 and still do not have my ears pierced. I want to, but I am terrified of the pain. Many people I've asked said that it feels like only a pinch, but others say it hurts a lot. I don't know who to believe. I saw two people pierce their ears and they looked like it hurt a lot. I know I will eventually do it, but I want to do it as soon as possible.

I didn't have my first holes done until I was in the 8th grade. I think the most important thing about getting anything pierced is to NOT psych yourself out. If you go in thinking, "Okay, this is going to be a peice of cake and not hurt at all!" then it will be. I've had my second holes and belly button done since, and the only thing you may feel is a slight pinch. Really, it's a mental thing. Good luck!

i've had my ears pierced 8 times at Claire's and i've pierced them twice by myself... thus coming to a grand total of 10. i got them pierced first when i was 7 and don't think it has ever hurt! i have 6 holes in my left ear (2 are cartilage) and 4 in the right! it's really no more painful that being pinched. o... and i just about pierced my right ear again because after awhile it becomes almost addicting!

during the piercing, all you will feel is a pinch. that is probably the only pain you will feel unless you accidentally tug or get your hair or shirt caught on the backing. Just be extra careful when you comb your hair, putting on and taking off clothing, and you should be fine!!!
I got mine pierced and they only felt like a pinch. It was all over in less than 5 seconds. I did feel my ear lobes throb a little afterwards but there was no pain!

Getting the lobe pierced isn't all that bad. The expectation is what is. Don't get the cartilage pierced. That does hurt ALOT. If you take care of the piercing afterwards it doesn't hurt then either. It is like a pinch, maybe a bee sting.

Of course it hurts! Someone is stabbing a sharp piece of metal thru your ear... However the initial pain is just momentary, as long as you take excellent care of the piercings (cleaning and twisting as instructed) you'll be AOK.
Infection is the WORST pain!
I've have double ear piercings and my belly button, the 2nd ear holes actually made me pass out!

im a total wuss, no tolerance for pain and i got it done three times! its been al ong time since i got them done, dont know if they have any new fangled ways of doing it, but i got it done with a piercing gun and its much better if you can get two people in store and have them do it at the same time. that way if it does hurt, then its already done. id say its kinda like a shot, but it kinda stings afterwards. its worth it though! its so easy to accessorize with earrings!

Hurts alittle at first, like a sting but goes away within a minute.
Actually, I pierced my own ears the second time............did a good job, but don't recommend it. Do it professionally.
Oprah just recently pieced her ears.........she was also nervous to do it at first, but had them done on her show.
I say go for it, no pain........no earrings. Be brave. Good Luck.

No normally it doesn't hurt at all. Feels maybe like a little pinch, but it is so quick, when it's over, you will forget all about it. You will do great!!

Nah it doesn't hurt, the sound scarred me more than anything. After 5 min or so it started to get hot but nothing i couldnt handle. I had someone blow on my ears and it felt better.
