do you believe in it?
because i honestly think that it's the most ignorant idea anyone has ever come up with... to say that we came from the same thing. that would mean like, a banana is my great (great great x100) uncle... oh and that elephant! he's my grandpa!

i do understand microevolution. yes, if two cats have sex their kittens aren't going to look the same. and i can even see cats tigers lions... all that stuff, coming from a common ancestor. but has anyone seen a monkey pop out a human? because if it came from mutations, the monkeys would still be mutating, therefore still producing humans, no ?

The question you should ask yourself is, do you think the top scientists in the world over the last century and a half have all been dumb?

Common origins explain things like why we all share the same genetic code, and even most of our basic biomolecules.  (Why would we even be able to eat something that had a completely different origin?)  We share things like a defective vitamin C synthesis pathway with all the apes and monkeys, and even human and yeast cytochrome C proteins are only 40% different.

What's the alternative?  "Poof", all these highly-similar things just appeared?  That's not a scientific explanation.

> "because if it came from mutations, the monkeys would still be mutating, therefore still producing humans, no ?"

No. Monkeys are indeed still evolving, but there is no more reason for a monkey to evolve into another existing species (like humans) than it is for humans to be evolving into monkeys. Species do not evolve *into each other*.

> ". but has anyone seen a monkey pop out a human?"

Evolution is not a human being born to a monkey one day. No scientist says that happened in the past. And it never will.

Evolution is about a *slow* transformation and change in response to environment. If you can see how cats, tigers, lions can all come from a common ancestor, then why is it hard to see that chimps, gorillas, and gibbons all have a common ancestor too?

There is a huge amount of evidence of this common ancestry traceable quite accurately through DNA. In exactly the same way that your DNA can identify relationships with distant cousins, if you go further back, we can determine that all human beings are related by a common ancestor. If you further back, all primates (including humans) are related. Go back further, and all mammals are related. Go back further, and all vertebrates are related. Go back further and all animals are related. Go back further and all multicellular life forms (animals, plants, fungi) are related. And all the way back ... it's all there in the DNA. (Even the very fact that all life forms on the planet have the same *type* of DNA, is an indication of this.)

So nobody is saying that a banana is your great great uncle ... or even that a monkey is your great great great grandfather. It is all about common ancestry. That's all.

yes I truly believe
and no a banana isn't our great (great great x100) uncle.
But we (probably) all had one great (great great x100) father

if you understand microevolution, then be a little more bold, don't most animals have a heart or a brain or 5 fingers?

you won't ever see a monkey become a human, because we aren't the perfect solution. We all go our different paths just like the branches of a tree -don't see the come together.

What if humans would colonize Mars? Since the gravity force there isn't as powerful as on earth our children would change their bone structure into something more fragile. This is just one very small step to creating a new specie.

You obviously don’t understand what evolution is or how it occurs. First of all mutations are not the main driver of evolution, the environment is - mutations are just one small mechanism to increase genetic diversity with a population.

Humans don’t come from monkeys, but we share a ancient ancestor. Look at out hands our facial stricture, our social nature, how we care and feed our young.... we have a lot in common with the great apes. Obviously you’re not related to a banana closely because a banana is a plant and your an animal. However we share DNA as our genetic encoding so we come from the same initial spark of life. Evolution is and intricate and interesting process and our ideas about it are always being revised, however to someone so slapstick I don’t feel like taking the time to explain it.

if you don’t agree with the evolutionary theory and survival of the fittest, that’s fine, but you should be educated and have enough intelligence to know what they are before you flaunt your stupidity. You should be able to defend you opinions in a logical matter instead of being a science - illiterate. Ever thought to pick up Origin of Species? Ever thought about learning something and then forming an opinion? Or is that too much to ask?

Microevolution does not occur in the individual, it occurs in the population so you don’t understand it obviously.

Hopefully your young and bright and will learn about all the opinions and theories and subjects that are fundamental to a decent knowledge base. However if you don’t your just going to grow up and be a member of society who believe that science is for atheists that eat children - go back to the dark ages when they believed in monsters and that the world was flat. I bet your one of those people who believe that the pyramids in Egypt where built by aliens.

Kudos for being ignorant.

What you do not understand is that these changes take 100's of thousands of years or more to become apparent. I believe in Evolutionism because it is based on solid scientific fact. Creationism says that "Poof" we are here. Creationism says that man is no older that a few thousand years old. Mutations are still happening and life is still evolving. It is very very slow, and that is why it is not appreciated by many who do not understand it. I agree that at someopoint in time, their must have been the Hand of God, if you will, Who did something to start this entire Universe. That would be in the begining --- about 6 billion years ago. After that, the Creator, seems to have been on the sidelines giving gentle nudges at times, but otherwise just watching what HE has brought into existance evolve. Yes, this compares the Creator to the ruler in a video game such as Sim City or any of the other similar games. Who knows? Maybe that is GOD's role? I guess we will all find out when we meet our respective Divinity after we are done here on Earth.

Why do people find it so hard to understand that many small changes can result in something that is hugely different from the original? Macroevolution is nothing more than microevolution plus time.

Is the difference between monkeys and humans really bigger than the difference between cats and lions? I don't think so.

Nobody, and I mean *nobody*, is claiming that monkeys pop out of humans. Or vice versa. That's a creationist straw man argument. If you want to grapple with what evolutionists are saying, at least pay attention to what they actually are saying.

If you say you understand micro evolution, then you should understand macro evolution, because there is no difference between them. Evolution is evolution, and this micro/macro distinction is artificial. It was not long ago that Creationists disputed any form of evolution, now, they claim that there is evolution, but only at the micro level. They will understand eventually, and guess what? Your religion will not collapse.

You say that you understand that tigers and lions and your pet cat have a common ancestor, but then ignore the fact that we are possibly as closely related to Chimpanzees than lions are to your cat.

Are you offended by the fact that we are related to other apes.? It doesn't change who we are or what we think.

Humans and monkeys had a common ancestor maybe 20 million years ago, clearly not all of them evolved into apes (including humans).

Evolution and Creationism are two very different things. Evolution is a scientific theory while creationism is a religious belief. Evolution does not require "belief", just verification of facts. There are no "facts" involved in creationism so its existence is completely an unsupported belief. I completely agree with you that creationism is the most ignorant idea someone came up with. Evolution, on the other hand, is a theory developed from scientific observation. As with any other theory, such as The Theory of Gravity, it is always open to modification as other facts are uncovered and integrated into it. Everything scientific we "know" is theoretical because none of it can ever be truely "proven". Just look at the study of mechanics and how it changed when the theory of quantum mechanics was developed.

you are able to "have self assurance" something you desire to, which include that evolution is a "faith." in spite of the undeniable fact that, believing some thing would not make it genuine. I neither have self assurance nor disbelieve in something. I take each and everything as conditionally genuine or conditionally untrue based on the information and arguments for or against. between the universal transformations between evolution and faith is that the former demands basically the organic international, while the latter demands an entire supernatural realm of God and devil, demons and angels, djinns and afreets, and regardless of different spirits a definite faith chooses to populate that realm with. In a private and/or parochial college, I have no project with faith being taught. I attend a private Catholic college, and besides the reality that i'm not a believer, I have no project with the religion classes (2) that i'm required to take. in spite of the undeniable fact that, that toleration ends while it comprises public faculties, that are paid for with taxpayer money, and which pupils ought to attend devoid of determination, and regardless of their religious or non secular ideals. extra desirable, at a similar time because it would desire to be genuine that lots of the Founding Fathers have been Christians (besides the reality that lots of the main in demand weren't), this u . s . a . replaced into in no sense based on the Christian faith. that's not hypothesis, yet is obviously enunuciated in information such by way of fact the Treaty of Tripoli (i'm going to go away it to you to look that up). the assumption of "freedom of religion" ability not basically the liberty to prepare your faith, however the liberty from having another faith compelled upon you. this would be precisely the case interior the state of affairs you describe, with public faculties coaching training on Christianity. this would be tantamount to a company of religion, this is expressly forbidden by utilising the 1st exchange to the form. i know you think of that evolution is a manner or the different a "faith," in spite of the undeniable fact that it's not so by utilising any frequent definition of that be conscious. It takes extra desirable than "believing in" some thing to qualify it as a faith. And to boot, as I even have already pronounced, accepting the certainty of evolution would not require perception.

You are stupid. Get off the internet.

Microevolution? I believe the term you are looking for is recombination.

Are you 12? Animals don't "pop."

The main theory (in regards to humans and apes) is that humans and apes all came from what is called a common ancestor. We did not come from them. they did not come from us. We came from the same thing. Hard to believe? Take a look at apes vs. humans. What differs? Their body shape - but body shapes differ greatly form human to human, and their brains are perhaps not as avanced as ours which is why we study them, and they do not study us. Look at yourself. You have all the same features, and they are even shaped the same, or really similar to the apes. You even have hair growing from almost every inch of your body. They just have it thicker - we invented clothing!

I could go on.

SO perhaps you should think first before you try to ask a stupid question.
