I was thinking about putting purple hornie glass packs on my truck. I was wondering how the sounded so i can decide if i should get them. Please be specific. I am looking for something with a loud kida nasty sound to it. My truck is already dueled out with thrush glass packs. I like those but i am looking for something new. My truck is a 98' chevy 3/4 ton 4wheel drive 350 vortec 5.7 ltr. with eidlebrock shorty headers and high flow cats.

PH are just a glass pack and if you already have GP on it you probably won't hear much diff. I had PH on a Dodge 4X4 440 with headers when I was young 1976 and it was bad sounding deep and loud but a real pain in the woods .... eventually went back to a turbo style muffler was way quieter but still had some rumble. built a 351w mustang for my son put 22 inch Cherry bombs on it with shorty mufflers sounds great but he has been pulled over twice for noise...... do you really need or want that much attention

KEEP THE DIRTY SIDE DOWN AND THE SHINNY SIDE UP...............

i own a shop and the purple hornies aren't that good they burn out pretty fast,id go with good Flo master mufflers on it they will sound good all the time, and have a mean little rumble to them, once those purple hornies burn out there plenty loud if that's what you want, but loud isn't always cool ,one thing about loud ,the law can always hear you coming ,and that's not too good, hope this helps good luck with it.

Unless your Thursh ones are worn out somehow, you won't notice the difference. If you want something louder, install an exhaust cutout before your muffler, or your cat if you can fit it - Flowtech makes one, as does Mr.Gasket - check summitracing.com for more info and prices. That way you can be as loud as possible with it in the open position, or quiet if you have to be. They run about $50.00. You can't get much louder than that!!

I ran into this problem installing headers on an 83 monte carlo. You basically have two options to use header mufflers, buy an after market crossmember for a g-body or what i did was modify mine. The G-body cars are not made for dual exhaust.

"Loud Kid" pretty well nails it. Hope you have a stereo louder than your exhaust.
