I'm not trying to be a smart butt.... but if you think that the refs like one team more than another team, then why are you watching a sport that you believe is fixed??????
of course refs aren't like that. If they are, I'm not watching the NBA anymore. The refs are held accountable in America by all of the major sports. If the NBA/MLB/NFL see that a ref is favoring, they'll fire him/her. They can't and won't afford for a ref to do things like that. Just like the other day. They suspended the ref for throwing Duncan out of a game. As businessmen the NBA front office executives can't have their refs looking as if they're out to get players.
It's cool though.. It does appear that way at times, but I don't believe it to be true. And if so, I will never watch the NBA again... But again, it's not true.

Personally I think that of the four major sports in America, NBA referees are the worst. They can be very inconsistant at times, play favorites for star players, and can be influenced by the crowd. In rare cases a ref will get a grudge against a certain player and there is nothing the player can do (ala Tim Duncan vs. Joey Crawford). But it is far too common for hard fouls to get a no call then on the other side of the court you get a ticky-tack whistle.
I don't think the refs do it intentionally, but they do screw up quite a bit. Unfortunately, the union makes referees almost untouchable. They can be disciplined but almost never fired. Even the worst referees go to the playoffs. Violet Palmer and B. Salvatore (the same guy that blew the whistle from 40' away calling a foul on Wade during the finals that gave the Heat a win in game 5) are widely considered the worst of the bunch by many sportswriters yet they will referee some of the most important games of the season. To me it is incomprehensible that NCAA referees are so good while NBA good referees are few and far between.

No the referees are not fair. It doesn't matter which year you look at, they have changed a series in each playoff with the way they call games unfairly. Not to mention they stretch out many series just to keep the league's revenue up.

Not truly. Most games have more than one ref allowing them to pull out the ref if he/she is corrupt. Most likely this wont happen. In soccer for example the side ref's show the ref which calls to make. In basketball it's the one ref.

yeah, Refs are only human...Seriously, if you were reffing a game...and some guy was REALLY mouthy (cough RASHEED WALLACE cough)....and got under your skin so bad..and one of your friends was guarding him..and he gets an offensive foul and starts mouthing to you..Wouldn't you be more likely to give someone you dont like as well a technical than another player you are nuetral on? Refs arn't supposed to be biased, but, they are.
