if you have a known amount of electric charge and an appropriate voltmeter how would you measure this capacitance

a capacitors function is to charge the discharge, when reading with a voltmeter you would watch the needle go up to a point on the scale then drop quickly back to zero.

make sure when you do this that you correctly bias your capacitor. this means hooking your positive lead to the positive leg of your capacitor which is usually slightly longer than the negative leg. if they are both the same length then it is a "nonpolarized" capacitor which means it doesnt matter which legs you put your leads on.

You have to remember that
C = Q/V (C in Farads, Q in Coulombs, V in volts)
