Why are some tomatoes e.g tomatoes on the vine, and grape tomatoes,so much more expensive than other tomatoes?

Some people think they're getting a special product, it's just "Snob" value. Nutritionally, there is no difference.

First is picking. Vine tomatoes are probably picked by hand whereas free of stems may be machine picked.

Also novelty increases price. If you have limited acreage in a certain variety you can charge more.
