Nothing. You go to a Real-estate School and it like 30 hours of study and then you take the real-estate exam to get a license and you work for a Broker. This is actually sub-contracting in most cases and you get a percent of your sales and responsible for ALL your taxes, your are self-employed!!!!
After a certain amount of time (1-2 Years, I not remember) you can then take a Brokers exam and have your own business with sales associates sub-contracting to you.
Knowing things like Bank Finance can help your customers, but, in real-estate you have to take a certain amount of on going education every year, usually provided by the State Real-Estate Board. Most times you learn everything you need and it all free. This how it was when I did this. We learned how HUD, FHA and VA loans work, and I put many a new house owner in a home for 2/3 what the property was appraised for.

I don't think you need a college degree to be a real estate agent...but a business degree can't hurt. Or architecture if you're going to be selling unique houses.
