305 heads will cause a lower flow than the 350 heads, so why would you use them? Sounds like you are trying to do this right, so go ahead and find a new (rebuilt) set of heads, or an aftermarket set if you are building for proformance. You are gonna have to have the ones you have rebuilt as it is, so why pour good money after bad?. As far as rearend ratios go, what do you want to do? A 4:11 will run 100 mph, but do it in 100 yards. A 3:73 or something like that will have a good top end, and still have pickup. a 2:62 will run faster than you have nerve to drive it, but will take MILES to get there. Decide what you want to run and build acordingly. If you are gonna build that 350 turbo, then you are a better man than I am. I have been a certified Mechanic for almost 20 years, and i still send my trannys out to a professional. Good Luck

305 heads on a 350 huh? higher compression, good, more power, but now you have to monitor your engine temperature a little more to avoid pre-detonation. that transmission is pretty simple, just go slowly and try to be organized. go step by step out of the book.
