Does this mean I have to replace the internal battery and if so how do I do it without erasing memory?

Unplug your PC. Replace the CMOS battery. It is usually a CR2032 lithium battery and often costs less than a dollar.

Only the CMOS settings will be erased, NOT your BIOS nor your data in the hard drive. Once you turn on the computer again, press F1 or Del to enter BIOS menu. Adjust the date and time then "Load Fail-Safe Defaults" then "Save and Exit". You should be back in business.

Please remember how your battery came out to put the new one back in. Don't be like me and put it in backwards!
