For some reason, a conscience is lacking in some people. They have no definition between right and wrong, ignore it or don't care. Is it because "self" rules and nobody else matters? Is it because someone thinks he/she is the only person on the planet that has been wronged and everyone else is to blame for his/her problems? Could it be that the killer has no empathy for the sick, displaced and dieing anywhere else in the world but himself who is dieing within himself/herself? I don't know what your religious bent is, but to me, when it comes to human life, the commandment, "You shall not kill" says it all. Too bad so many people ignore that. Muslims kill innocents because "It is Allah's will" according to some perversion. Medieval Christians killed off Muslims, not so much to gain Holy Stature but to gain material wealth for the church. Neither of those philosophy's was/is right. For the individual at VT...was it madness, parental upbringing, bad genes or just lack of a moral compass? Who knows what causes a person to do what they do? Murder has been going on all through written history from Genghis Khan to Nero to Napoleon to Hitler to Stalin to Bin Laden. Power, greed, ignorance, intolerance, madness, name your poison, the human race has it all. Unfortunately, some are willing to follow. Sorry I couldn't answer your question. I don't think there is only one answer unless you consider "original sin", and that could actually be the answer given every other possibility. It's as good as any.

I don't think the assasinations of Lincoln, MLK, or the Kennedys can be compared to Columbine and VTech. I think the earlier political assinations were done out of fear. Some feared their ideas and the changes that were being brought about and somehow thought that taking away the public's inspiration would subdue the momentem of their political ideas. In the case of Columbine and Virginia Tech I think we have very troubled youth that are hurt and angry and blame others for their unhappiness.

bueno usually people that murder are people that dont socialize ni pal candao. they tend to come from families that are very abusive for example hit the child everyday as a sport.me i was hit 4 times but it was eventful and it needed a REASON most of the beating wasn't traumatic(the more adult the less harder they hit me both men and women) except the first one. no people dont kill just to kill theres always something in their heads that forces them to kill. for example when i was a bit sychotic i heard loud noises that made me talk and couldn't stop after the medication i felt well. being sychotic is an illness just like when you get a disease infact some people die at an early age from a disease like el dengue ,strong people have it a bit complicated.

Because that is what this country has come to. You can not keep exposing kids to violent material and expect it not to have an effect on them. TV has desensitized people into thinking killing is not as bad as it seems. Cartoons are violent and kids watch them.
