It depends on the market. A large market, such as NYC works differently than one in smaller cities.

Casting Directors contact agents with information about an upcoming casting. The agent submits actors that are approrpriate for the role. The casting director makes up his or her on the person he or she will cast for the project.

Agents then submit their actors to the casting director for consideration for an audition for their actor client.

The agent submits a headshot to the casting director, unless the Casting Director is already familiar with the actor.

agents find the casting directors and give them the papers with their clients info and pic and they audition them and choose the most fitted actor
