You can buy a will kit in a newsagent's and comply by the instructions about how to ensure that someone knows where you are keeping your will why not tell some of the family members at least one or two should be the executors of your will meaning they will be responsible to ensure the terms of your will are carried out after you have died . This is the usual procedure or you could have a solicitor do the same thing but they charge.

If I were you, I'd contact your local legal aid society. You don't have to get a lawyer through them or anyone else, but they would probably be able to walk you through the process or let you know the steps of making a legitimate will as each state has different laws and procedures.

If anything else, just write down your last wishes (i.e. how you want your remains handled, who you would leave your possessions and assets to, etc) and sign and date it. I would think (not that I'm a lawyer), that that would be better than nothing.
