Yankee Doubters Are Already Coming From Within

With the exception of Alex Rodriguez's early form, it's been a tough start of the season for the New York Yankees.
The starting staff is devastated with injuries, longtime captain Derek Jeter has been slumping at the plate and leads the league in errors, and the Yankees were just swept by the Red Sox in a three-game series, the first such sweep since 1990.
And guess what? Fans aren't the only ones doubting the Yanks early on. Players inside the organization are hopping on, too:
The scouting report sounded more like a complaint, which it wasn't. Not really. The Yankee veteran was simply stating a fact, an obvious one after getting swept at Fenway, about why the Bomber golden era could be in jeopardy.
"What we have right now, I'm not sure it's enough," is what the veteran was saying before Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Sox, which again exposed every Yankee flaw: inferior starting pitching, an untrustworthy bullpen and a reliance on Alex Rodriguez that will soon (or maybe has) run dry.
...And here's one more curiosity that was vocalized Sunday night, as everyone was answering questions about Matsuzaka, his killer change-up, and the urban legend of his gyro-ball.
"You know what I'm wondering? I want to know why he's not here," said another Yankee veteran. The question was a not-so-subtle jab at the mere $33 million the Yankee bid on the Japanese star last winter.

They arent through. The offense is owning. They've scored more runs than any other team in the AL. They have just had a tough time with injuries to their pitchers. Once they get their rotation back intact, theyll be atop the division just like they have been for the past decade.

No they are not through. They are just going through a rough stretch. Everyone has to remember they have been without their best pitcher, Wang, who won 19 games last year. His coming back will be a big boost. It will also give the bullpen a rest. Mussina is not what he was, but he will still win 14-15 this year. Rivera just needs work. This one day a week isn't doing him any good. The Yankees bullpen is very good, but you can't run them out there for 4-5 innings every night.
There is one big thing. The Red Sox pitchers use the Yankees for target practice. Pedro, Arroyo, and Clement have all done it, and now it looks like Dice-K is already doing it having nailed A-Rod and Jeter purposely (I don't care what idiots Morgan and Miller said Sunday night). The Red Sox were WAY too comfortable in the box, if their pitchers are going to throw at the Yanks, than we need to answer back. It's a joke. The pitchers need to show some heart.
Another reason not to lose faith. It's small consolation at this point, but the Yankees have shown they can hit the Red Sox big three. Schilling lucked his way out of a loss, and Dice-K lucked into a win, by giving up six runs. The Red Sox are having a nice home stand. They come to our house next week and there won't be Chase Wright to face them, he's back in Double-A.

The season just started! There are 144 games to go. Please! The Yankees lit up the Red Sox three best pitchers for six runs each. Rivera blew the first game and the last two were the combined pitching staff. The Sox should be proud that they lit up a AA kid for 4 homers! I'm glad the Yankees didn't waste more money and get the mediocre Dice K. Wang is back today and Hughes is coming Thursday. It will come together. Jeter is doing fine. Mientkiewicz and Cabrera are the weak links in the batting order, but the rest are holding their own and scoring more runs than any other team in baseball except the Devil Rays. Boston scares no one.

Too early yet to decide... but like the previous season thier pitching has suffer setbacks like injuries.. pavano, wang, mussina, rivera (last season), randy johnson (last season) and so on...
the offense is there... in the red sox they did hit dice-k, not for anthing 6 runs in 7 innings is not impressive.. especially with all the hype and money spent..
in two of the red sox victories it was the yankess bullpen that gave up the runs and victory.. to have petitte pitch in relief is desperate.
let see what will happen it's only april.. when june comes around then worried.. last year the yankees was so way behind until they swept the 5 games from red sox and took the lead....
other thing, enough of spending so much cash... especially on hitting, put it in pitching but real pitching not because you don't want red sox to get it.. pavano, randy johnson, and wright was a financial flop that money could've gotten dice-k... or willis...

this is not the same teams as the one with Scott B , Chuck , Tino and even Paul O,Neals. This is a team with just alot of single all-star talent instead of a group of hard working guys that play as a team. Late hockey coach Herb Brooke say it best "all-star team fail because they relied solely on the individual talent , Soviet wins because they take that talent and put into a system" However , pitching injury is a major set back. Cy Young runner up of 2006 Wang is coming back thou. Moose shouldnt be gone that long , the question mark is when will Carlo " glass" Provano be back. Sooner or later this offense is going to click. Only 5 or 6 game out still alot of game to go , not too worried yet. As far as Dice-K , well , he did surrender 5 runs in 7 inning against Yankees didnt he ?

Though it's still early and panic is very much the wrong reaction, it is past time that the current generation of Yankees fans learn the phrase "wait 'til next year." Championships and contending teams are not a birthright.
Besides, poor Jeter hasn't had an October off since 1995. He needs a break.

i don't think of the two considered one of them might desire to have gained the MVP. The electorate have been given it maximum suitable in 2006 because of fact Justin Morneau grew to become into greater helpful to the Twins than Jeter to the Yankees. This 365 days the electorate have been given it incorrect. i in my opinion experience they chosen Pedroia because of fact his 5 video games hitting 4th in the back of David Ortiz grew to become into blown way out of share via the human beings at ESPN and SportsCenter. Francisco Rodriguez grew to become into for sure the main useful participant on the gang with the main wins and could have been provided the MVP. positioned somebody like Scott Shields available as closer and probability is a minimum of 15 to 20 of those sixty two saves are not wins for the Angels and the Angels omit the playoffs.

The Yanks w/o question are my favourite AL team. I don't think there in any kind of trouble at this point. Unfortunately I do think they'll be in trouble after George Steinbrenner starts poppin' daisies. All due respect. He is the Yankees, at this point.

listen, to all the bandwagon yankees fans, its time to realize that your pitching sucks and you have no middle relief. The starting pitching sucks and Mo hasn't been himself. Granted it early but I can't wait until after the all star break and the playoffs...

I am not pessimistic, we can hit the Red Sox best pitching and we have proved that, they just hit more than us, out starters are getting injured faster than a train wreck.
The offense is there, the pitching needs to return.
