i have a 2.83GHz intel processor. is it better than the newest core 2 duos? b/c ive seen the duos w/ 1.8GHZ and 2.4GHz

C2Duo are high performance processors that do more per clock cycle, so do not be deceived by its apparently low clock speed. With the right motherboard, they are also great overclockers. Look at one of my idols:

it usually depends on how many cores the processor has. If it is an older processor like a pentium 4, those are single core processors. Pentium D's and Core 2 Duo's have two cores.

The frequency only matters if the the processor is of the same series. It only matters when you compare apples to apples.

No.it does not mean core 2 duo ghz is slow then your computer gzh,but it have dual core that can manage two task in one session.Although It have only 2.4ghz ,but it more faster than the single core even 3.5ghz(single core)processor.

A core2duo 2.4 ghz should walk all over a Pentium D 3.2 ghz so it will also outperform your 2.83
