Officially, two, since the story is over. Lucas has no intention of ever doing another SW film. There are 2 tv shows in the works, but they supposedly tell the events in between the films already made. But, no more trilogies. That's done.

According to the official story it was supposed to be 9 movies, 3 triolgies.The first one came out as chapter 4 as a gimmick and when they proved wildly successful Lucas had to scurry up a story line. Supposedly the last 3 take place after the first group ended, chapters 7,8 and 9. I wouldn't count on any more tho.

Star Wars was complete in the first set. The second round was just to generate money and not worth the time of any real Star Wars fan. One should never try to follow what clearly was a Classic. You just go down hill and it is sad to see.
Like writing sequels to Hamlet or Moby Dick.

If you don't like them then surely you don't watch them. And if you don't watch them, WHY DO YOU CARE? I don't like the Ocean's 11,12 movies and could care less they're making a 3rd one. It does not change me one bit to know there's a movie with lots of fans and I'm not one of 'em. I just simply choose NOT to watch. You must like 'something' about Star Wars, or you wouldn't have even wasted your time writing a question about it. It's almost like you are jealous of Star Wars. I don't get it. If you hate it that much, then ignore it, forget about it, let it go. Life's too short to dwell on things you DON'T like! What about the things or movies you DO like? Spend your time and energy on those! lol ;-) Man, I've been on here too long. lol

For it to officially be over there would have to be 3 trilogies.
Oh and there is going to be a third Ocean's movie... it is called Ocean's Thirteen!!!

i could be said when all the books that have been written have films for them...
i have heard a rumour however that they want to 'remake' the original trilogy...
