I think that answer will be different for every situation. There is no single "perfect" fish for everybody. It would depend on the aquarist's own preference, their tank size, the fish's size, if they kept corals or invertebrates and if the fish would eat these, what other fish it can be kept with or if it needs a tank by itself, diet (some are very specific in what they eat, like corals or sponges), how easy it is to keep, price (a consideration for some keepers), its personality (everybody likes friendly fish, nobody wants something that hides so they never see it), etc.

I agree with Copperhead, however do you mean in the ocean or in a tank.

Most perfect in the ocean would in my view be the sharks. Perfect fish.

In a tank, well that is difficult to say. Depending on your set up the perfect fish could be anything from a common yellow tail damsel to a stingray. Everyone has certain fish they like and believe them to be the perfect fish. Some because they like the fish's personality, some for color, some for the ease of keeping in the tank they have.

its all up to you but choose logically according to your tank charictaristics chemically and by size. also consider the other fish you have or will be keeping in the tank. also keep in mind which fish will look good in YOUR tank. for example, if your tank is mostly a certain color, choose a fish that will blend well with the colors of the tank. personally, i love porcupine puffer fish, but thats just me.

hope this helps.
