My main yahoo account was suspened because I asked a question that people concidered offensive.
I did not use foul language. I am afraid to paraphrase my question for fear of geting this account deleted also. How can this be. How can yahoo just take my account away. With all the killing going on in the middle east, with all the crime in the streets, with all the poor people being locked out of healthcare Yahoo is worried that I offended one of the air heads that asked questions like.........How do u cure bad breath, or where are all the cool guys,.............wow.........hevey stuff.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. Sorry, but this is a pet peeve of mine - people go around yelling what about freedom of speech" and they obviously don't know what they're talking about.

Freedom of speech in the US is derived from the first amendment of the constitution. This reads, in its entirety:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "

That's it. the key part here is "Congress shall make no law". It says nothing about private companies. If Yahoo is an independent commercial entity, it can make any rules it wants to. If those rules include stating that you're not allowed to use the word "purple", or to refer to any pop music, or to mention Britney Spears, for example, then that's their right. You agreed to abide by their rules when you signed up, and if you broke them then you should have known better.

Sorry, but freedom of speech has nothing to do with this.

Freedom of Speech is being masked by the material-obsessed youth of our culture's spawned society that only read the backs of cereal boxes and their only views and beliefs derive from whatever the norm tells them.
Truth is, it's gone down the same road as self-dignity, good grammar, and literature has gone.
Don't get me wrong though, there has always been, and will always be question posed at new ideals.
However, there is a growing amount of these people, and most everyone can vouch for that statement. I commend you for your opinion.

p.s. Never had I thought that there would come a day when I would witness a question asked, "who wrote Huckleberry Fin" and then someone standing next to them say (completely sure of themselves) "Dude, it was Tom Sawyer"

Freedom of speech only applies to public (read: government) sites and events. This is privately owned, and you agreed to a contract called the Community Guidelines. You agreed to follow them in exchange for being allowed to participate on Yahoo.

Freedom of speech doesn't exist in a private forum.

Oh, you are so funny! You can't trick me!

You are one of those gay-bashers, aren't you? That's why you are complaining on the LGBT board that your post got deleted.

I may be slow, but I'm not completely stopped-up! (So to speak....)

Welcome to the club. That's why you should only use a free, back up account here and keep your personal contact stuff in a separate account.
