It was a very sad movie about a woman who was dying, something like bone cancer. There was even a soundtrack to the movie that I owned. I would love to get a copy of this movie.

According to the IMDB Message Boards, someone found it here at this site. It's at the bottom of the page.

I loved this movie as well. The mother dies and the father and step-daughter have to learn how to live together. The tv movie was actually a pilot in 1973 and starred the great Cliff De Young as the dad/musician and the little girl who played Carrie on Little House On The Prarie played his young step-daughter. Then 2 years later, the tv show finally aired with a different little girl playing the stepdaughter (and she was much better). It didn't stay on too long but they played the movie every year or so. Why can't TV Land get stuff like this to show? ;-)

Yes, I remember the movie, but I have no idea where to suggest getting a copy of it. Other than to try Blockbuster.

I think that was the one that the mom died and left her husband to raise their young daughter. Check amazon.com.
