Near gothic is what, emo? Punk? You're either gothic or you aren't. The ring is better, but not much of a gift, you might as well get her some foil. What about a set of items? Like a ring, some of those gloves w/no fingers, a necklace (not as gaudy as that one though) etc. Good luck! It's so sweet you're thinking of a friend.
