Executive--runs the day to day affairs of the government. Has the traditional police powers. Typically has a veto over legislature, typically appoints most important officials who serve at his pleasure.
Legislative--sets the overall laws of the jurisdiction in a broad sense, to be applied by the Executive. Has control over the money--both how its raised (taxes, tariffs, fees) and how its spent (appropriations bills usually). Usually gets to approve major executive appointments of officials.
Judicial--The courts, acts as neutral arbiter of civil disputes, acts as the neutral arbiter in criminal cases where Executive applies police powers to individuals (hence need for a judge to issue arrest and search warrants, to preside over a trial where government acts as prosecutor and imposes sentences. The first three articles of the US Constitution:
Article I creates the legislature, Article II creates the executive and Article III creates the Supreme Courts and such inferior courts as Congress shall create.
The legislature is responsible for passing all laws necessary and proper, for the welfare of the nation. Article I, Section 8 of the constitution enumerates the powers of Congress to make laws and what kind of laws.
The legislature can overrule the president's veto, and can pass laws to curb the president's activities. It also holds he power to tax and spend, which the president cannot.
The president can veto laws passed by congress. The president negotiates all foreign policy on behalf of the nation. The president also nominates federal judges, cabinet members, and administration officials who are part of the executive branch subject to the advise and consent of the Senate. That means beaurocrats.
The federal judiciary has the power to declare laws passed by Congress unconstitutional, and the jurisdiction to adjudicate matters involving non-political questions concerning the actions of the president or his agencies, etc.
Anyway, that's the skinny. After that you ought to read your constitution.

I second that.. (partly)
Take away your money and give it to themselves and their friends.
Take away your rights & property in an effort to litigate every aspect of your life.
And to tell you its ok.. "its legal" when they the do the above two things.
( but immigrants should be allowed to come to a land of so called freedom.)
