Billy Joel for piano ballads, Elton John for poppy songs (at least in the 80's)

I think they're both talented but I am not the biggest fan of either one. Even though I like a lot of their tunes I'm not into their whole vibe. That said, I think Elton John was better back in the day, but unlike him, Billy Joel didn't go down this bad road to disney musicals. So, overall, I almost hate to say it but.. Billy Joel

Billy Joel is way better. You obviously haven't seen him in concert. But Elton John is good all around in all songs. Bill Joel gets a few that no one remembers than 1 out of every 3 or 4 songs is a total blast that just blows all else out of the water.

Although I like Elton John's music better overall, I think Billy Joel is more talented, both as a writer and a musician.

Both are talented musicians and I grew up with them both but I have to go with the Piano Man himself...Billy Joel! I like his songs a whole lot more.
