William Thomson AKA Lord Kelvin along with JJ Thomson developed the Plum Pudding Model of the atom.

I think this statement should get your research on the right track. I could tell you more, but I am sure you want to do some of your own homework.

Before Thonpson, atoms were thought to be the absolute smallest particles, and that they were solid. Think of marbles.

Thompson incorporated the new discovery of electrons as negatively charged particles, and by logic, there must be positive charges as well.

He thought that the electrons were within the atom and were surrounded by positive chareges to keep the atom neutral. Think of a chocolate chip cookie or a slice of watermelon.
