Being a native Floridian that spent 10 years living in Georgia and have spent the last 2 years in Michigan, I get the same thing. I have learned though that depending on where you are, there's always another state to make fun of - in Florida, it's Georgia, in Georgia it's Alabama, in Alabama it's Tennessee, in Michigan it's Arizona of all places...when I say something that the people here think are funny, I let them know not to be mislead - I may speak with an accent, but I don't think with one.

I do not think there is any difference between how smart people from Texas are and everyone else. Texas is quite diverse really, so it's hard to actually put it into a stereotype, except for our speech. No matter where you are, though, everyone has their own slang and way of speech (y'all, for example. It's a contraction of you and all) Besides, I'm still in school, and I know plenty of really smart people. There aren't many drop out's, and I, for one, am taking calculus in 11th grade. In conclusion, I'd say you can' really judge a person's intellect based on where they are from.

Texans are stupid.
Just look at the history of Texas. They owned slaves and fought in the Civil War against the Union in order to preserve their way of life. They grew cotton, woopee doo. They didn't have any industry...they would have been nowhere without the North.
Not to mention our current president grew up in Texas, and look how he turned out.

Umm I don't consider someone uneducated if they are from Texas or have a southern accent as I'm from NC. But I do judge someones intelligence on how well they use the english language. Ain't is not a formal word so just try to erase it from your vocabulary. Try to think more before you say something. Also try to use proper punctuation I think you are probably a very intelligent person. You just need to try to present yourself better. Do you think thugs and rappers are intelligent when they use improper grammar?

I don't think Texans are stupid, I think Dubya is stupid.
Seriously though, if I could chose any accent Texan would be in the top three, then I could say "I'm your huckleberry" and sound awesome.

It sounds a bit uneducated..sorry! I came from the south..moved to the north..I had trouble in grammar school because I couldn't pronounce things the way they should be pronounced. For instance..greasy...i thought it was greezy..i was in tears because my teacher was trying to tell me different. I was told..southern people sound uneducated.
