Joe McCarthy. Managed for 24 seasons (22 full, two partial -- well, managers get fired), back when the leagues had eight teams each.

First place finishes: nine.
Second: seven.
Third: five.
Fourth: three.
Lower: none.

The man knew what he was doing. He's in the Hall for a reason.

Joe Torre is the best manager in all of baseball history. He has managed the New York Yankees of current and past to 4 World Series wins and 6 World Series appearances. He has gotten the Yankees to the playoffs for over 8 years now in a row and depending on whether he does good or not this year, he could stay on the team for a couple more years. Joe Torre will go down into the Hall of Fame as one of the greatest managers of baseball history.

I think Bobby Cox does one *ell of a job. 14/15 years he takes his team to the playoffs. He always stands up for his team (even if it means being ejected which he has done more than any other current manager). And although AOL Time/Warner doesn't have much money to put into baseball, he does what he can with the young guys, shaping them into a great ballclub.
Go Braves.
