Supposedly it was a battle of ego between the two families; mainly consisting of Karishma's mother and Amitabh Bachchan. Later unable to resolve the issues, Karishma stated that she would marry a man of her parents' choice, rather than defy them.
* Thats sweet and all, but Sanjay turned out to be a big partier hence the divorce issues, but obviously they have resolved their conflicts and are back together.*

Personal life of karishma kapoor
She announced her engagement to actor Abhishek Bachchan in October of 2002 on the 60th birthday of Abhishek's father Amitabh Bachchan. Four months later in February 2003, they split up. [1]
On 29 September 2003, she married industrialist Sanjay Kapoor, CEO of Sixt India.[2]. The couple has one daughter named Samaira, who was born on 11 March 2005.In typical Kapoor tradition, Karisma was married at her grandfather, the late Raj Kapoor's home, R K Cottage. The couple opted for an hour-long Sikh ceremony.

After much speculation concerning their relationship, his engagement to Aishwarya Rai was announced on January 14, 2007 [14]. The announcement was later confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan [15].
On April 20, 2007, Abhishek Bachchan got married to Aishwarya Rai according to Traditional Hindu rites of the South Indian Bunt community, to which his wife belongs. Token North Indian and Bengali ceremonies were also perfomed. [16]. The wedding took place in a private ceremony at the Bachchan residence Prateeksha in Juhu, Mumbai.
