I am by no means an expert but I have experienced the same problem (on 2 different Sony Vaio's nonetheless).

First, have you updated all of your drivers?
You might want to check Sony's Support Site:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/

Then search via "model" (or use the auto-detect tool).
Then download & install all of the relevant "updated" drivers.

If that doesn't work, there might be a work-around solution (which will also be posted on Sony's site). You might need to make some simple adjustments to your computer, like selecting only Wireless B OR G networks (which Sony will explain how to do).

Lastly, if that doesn't work, check your router (and update the router's firmware too).

Best of luck!
