I got divorced almost a year ago and my ex has not come and picked up the stuff he asked for in the divorce, is there a time limit when I no longer have to give it to him? I live in the state of Nebraska if that helps!!! Thanks

Big Rudy sounds like a butt wipe. That was a very ignorant answer she gave you. sounds like she has anger issues. Anyway I would call the courts they sould be able to give you an answer right away. You probable wouldn't need to call a lawyer if you already went to court. He should have came and already picked up his things. His loss. Why is he being so lazy a year ago. I can see why you divorced him. LOL !

Read your divorce agreement one more time. Usually the court gives a time limit like 30-90 days. If it is not there send him a letter by registered mail saying that he should pick up his stuff within 45 days. ( you decide 30-90 days). Otherwise, you will dispose it off.

Foxy,
I would notify his attorney and your attnorney that he has until May 30th to pick up his things or they will be sold for storage fees of $x perday times the number of days he has ledt them on your premises. This should take care of the problem quickly. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

You need to ask the lawyer you had. If you really want him to get it go rent a public storage building and put all his stuff in it and give him the key. That way he can't say he didn't get it (take pictures to in case it comes back on you)!

I would say he has 30 days, possession is 9/10s of the law!!! and it isn't your responsibility to remind him to come and get it, a year goes, by obviously he has chosen to let you have it, but check your decree, don't want any legal issues ...good luck and remember you shouldn't have to be his junk yard!!

If by now he hasn't picked it up then I would not worry about it. If you decide to still store it I would charge him storage fees. My goodness a year has gone by, if he wanted it that bad he would have been over within the week.

Send him a certified letter explaining to him that he has 30 days to get his things or you are going to sell them. If he doesn't pick it up in 30 days, you are good to go selling it or throwing it away. Totally legal.

You may want to give your attorney a call and find out. It may vary state to state and I've not come across this situation before to have heard of how it was handled. Sorry.
