Bettas should not be in a bowl and they don't eat plants. They also are surface breathers so plants are bad (unless they are true aquatic plants rooted in the substrate) as they block the surface, preventing the betta from being able to get air.

Bettas are mostly carnivores, eating worms, flies, or any little moving critter that may fall on the surface, sometimes they may eat away at the carcass of another dead fish. Sometimes, though, bettas will nibble on fine leaved underwater plants, or on thicker roots like lilies or any roots from plants above water. So it is best to stick with regular old betta food. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I would say to put any kinds of plants in the tank except for floating plants because it might block the betta's way to the surface and kill the betta

Bettas aren't vegetarians - they like meat! They would rather have insects like mosquito larvae or bloodworms than most aquarium plants. Betta pellets are best more most of their food, with bloodworms, mosquito larvae, daphnia, and brine shrimp as treats. Mine will eat a little piece of a cooked pea with the skin removed about once a week for extra fiber in his diet.

You would need to find something that requires minimum light, unless it is sitting beside a window that gets a ton of light every day, duckweed is something like this, basically looks like mini lillie pads, you will want this in an unfiltered tank or one with not alot of surface movement, I put some in my tank with an Aqua clear filter and the waterfall pushed the plants under the water and clogged my filter. Anyways, duckweed will provide some nice cover for your betta.

Hopefully, NONE! Bettas are carnivores. If they're eating plants, they're starving and have no choice. Stick with betta flakes for feeding.
If you're using the plant for decoration, make sure that you leave LOTS of surface area for oxygen exchange for your betta to live.
