Do you need to have use a check to subscribe in a magazine?

I would advise to never mail cash. You can use a credit card for almost all magazine subscriptions online. Some mail in orders allow credit cards. Without a credit card use a check or money order, never cash.

You can use other means to pay for a subscription. Cash is not advised since you are putting much trust in someone who might be tempted to steal it....no records. You can get a money order or a cashier's check. You cannot use traveler's checks since you probably cannot sign it in front of them. Some will also accept a credit or debit card. It is becoming common to use electronic transfers from a checking account. Ask the publisher of the magazine you wish to buy. Check with it's subscriptions department.

If you use cash then you would have to more than likely make a money order and mail it in. In the past I have paid with a credit card over the phone.
