It was a dark and stormy night and Maverick was headed to Abilene. He was after Riley Ferguson, a dapper and handsome man who just happened to rob banks for a living. As he approached the town, he thought he recognized that girl standing in front of the mercantile. "Oh, yes, it is my Virginia!" What could she be doing in Abilene? The last time he had seen her was in Dodge City, where she lived with her widowed father. "Well, lawsy me, Maverick! As the world turns, I never expected to see you here!" Virginia drawled. "What say you, Virginia, what brings you here?" asked Maverick. "Oh, I am here with Riley, he came to get supplies."she answered. "Don't you know he is a bad man and a wanted felon?" he asked with wonder. "What?? A wanted man? I did not realize!" she cried. "I will take you back to Dodge and your father", he offered. "Well, actually, Daddy is in town..in the saloon." she whispered. "Please ride with us, but just be sure you make room for daddy, cause I am sure he will be tipsy and want to sprawl out. So with his restless gun on his hip, he escorted Virginia and her father home. When Riley came out and found Viginia gone, he knew he would not live the life of riley again...his true love was gone! He continued robbing banks and was eventually captured by....you guessed it....Maverick, himself!!
