Had you heard this in the MSM? I had never heard of this one before. Why is that?

On Jan. 16, 2002, Peter Odighizuwa, a 43-year-old student from Nigeria, walked into the Appalachian School of Law offices of Dean Anthony Sutin, 42, a former acting assistant U.S. attorney, and professor Thomas Blackwell, 41, and opened fire with a .380 ACP semi-automatic handgun – shooting them at close range.

As soon as the gunfire erupted, two students acting independently of one another, Tracy Bridges and Mikael Gross, ran to their vehicles to retrieve firearms. Gross, an off-duty police officer in his home state of North Carolina, got his 9mm pistol and body armor. Bridges got out his .357 Magnum.

Bridges and Gross went back to the building where the shots were heard and as Odighizuwa exited, they approached from different angles. Bridges yelled for him to drop his weapon and the shooter was subdued by several unarmed students.

The VT shooting was horrible, but statistically speaking, "good" people use firearms in self-defense more that "bad" people use them for crime by a ratio of around 4-5 to 1.

That's why gun confiscation makes ZERO sense; the people that will obey the law and comply with the confiscation are NOT the ones you needed to worry about in the first place. It's the "bad" people who have no intention of complying with the law (especially gun laws.) That's why they're called "criminals."

In the UK and Australia, where all handguns were confiscated, gun violence rose considerably. It's sad but true.

So let me get this straight.

Crazed gunman attempts school massacre, he is accosted by ARMED students which thwarts his massacre attempt.

The state, in their infinite wisdom, decide that armed students are a bad idea and ban gun possession on campus.

Another crazed gunman attempts school massacre, he finds only UNARMED students and kills 33 of them before deciding to turn the gun on himself.

The liberals blame police and guns for the killings and calls for stricter laws to unarm more citizens. Wow, and they call us ignorant.

Sounds like a much happier ending to me.

When you outlaw guns, only outlaws and law enforcement have guns. Unfortunately, law enforcement can't be omnipresent.

Having said that, it should be MUCH more difficult to purchase a firearm in Virginia.

I'm not a gun owner, but this is my take on the matter.

Allowing students to have guns on campus would not have prevented the massacre entirely. The story you cite shows how it may have stopped the massacre before 32 innocent people died. I support allowing concealed carry.
