It's only true if you let it be true. I'm still in touch with all my good friends from high school, and it's been to years since then. If you want to be in touch with them you have to make it happen or your elders are right. Best of luck!! :)

My personal experience has proven your family member wrong. I not only have all my friends from high school that I stay in touch with but also friends from grade school as well. I graduated in 1982. There was a group of us (18 or so) , guys and girls, that hung out, dated, partied and were inseparable for those 4 amazing year's and some of us had gone to school together since Kindergarten. Although most of us left our home town shortly after graduation, we made it a point to stay in touch no matter where we were. I still have the same 3 best friends from 5th grade, added 4 more best friends that I met in high school and am fortunate to have had the pleasure of being in all of their weddings, but one. Our guy friends are still close and we all look forward to get togethers every few years. We really enjoyed being with each other and continue to do so to this very day. I really feel that it's your choice whether your friendships continue after school. So stay in touch with them, even if it takes work, it's worth it!

That depends on you. If you know better about friendship then there is no restriction for making friends in your life. And some time the older family members are true so believing or not that's depends on you. And if you have friends means you have ability to making friends.

This is probably true. I kept about 4 friends after high school. Now I am down to 1 and I have been out of school...well let's just say I've been to my 10 year reunion....

That's only if you are a girl/woman, I still speak to most of my friends and I have been out of high school for 8 years.

That's not entirely true. I've known a group of people that went to school together and they all stay close. I think it all depends on what the friendship means to you.

Its true, Some friends you grow out of basicly the things that you had in common you dont have in common anymore and that tends to evaparate the bond you had.
Dont panic, you will find new friends and you will hold onto the bond of your best friend most of the time (that reminds me i better call mine!)
