The radiation caused from the bomb, which made people's hair fallout, skin cancer, cuts or injuries that were severely burned and made their skin peeled. People who had skin contact with the air or weren't part of the victims came to investigate, their skin were not treated immediately therefore died within a few weeks.

Radiation was the greatest killer for those who survived the blast itself, serious burns, blindness and horrendous injuries cause by falling buildings.
There were just too many casualties for all survivors to be treated.
