Absolutely there are legit home based businesses. The problem is most people are looking for the get rich quick scheme and there is no such thing. If you plan to do a home based business, no matter what it is, you must start out at part time and work it until you replace your full time income. I know several people, including myself, that make a very good living from home. I have learned that you must get in the right mind set and develop and discipline yourself to achieve your dreams and aspirations.
I would suggest to start by reading "think and grow rich" by Napoleon Hill, this will give you a good idea of the disciplines you will need to put in place to begin a home based business.
Remember, that know matter what you choose to do you can do it, because the universe, god, allah, or what ever your belief may be, lets say your higher power, wants you to be successful. It is the error, or evil if you will, that wants to keep you down. Sometimes that evil shows up in our family and friends that say to not even start anything from home and go to school and get a good job. Which by the way, there is no gaurantee that you will get a job when you graduate. It will still be up to you, your drive and determination on what happens in your life.
I myself am a graduate with an AS and I even graduated 2nd in my class, but it did not get me much out in the world. What it did teach me is, it is not neccesarily the education in todays day, but it is your drive and determination that you can unleash from within.
Not to long ago I worked for a woman that had a nineth grade education, started a home-based business with a plan of action and the determination to do what needed to be done and she now makes over a million a year.
A home based business is something you need to work into and it is a 2-5 year process.
Suggestion, if you have not seen "the Pursuit of Happyness" with Will Smith or "Coach Carter" with Samuel Jackson rent them and you will see what type of determination and drive that is needed. Then ask yourself if you have that drive.
I leave you with this, a portion of a speach from Gahndi:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Find your way and don't let anyone tell you you can't do it. You are a miricle and born to create miricles for yourself and others.

You're probably going to get a lot of folks trying to make money telling you how to make money and they aren't even making money themselves. Yeah it's a world full of scams and wannabes selling to other wannabes.
Personally, I have a real work from home job which I enjoy very much and have been doing it for almost 5 years now. I am a print broker and have done very well in it.
It's recession proof, can be combined with about anything else you'd like to do, it's a repeat business, your customers bring you more customers, costs less than fifty bucks to start, the money never stops flowing, and you can do it both on and offline.
Those are just a few of the highlights I enjoy being a print broker. If you think it's something you'd like to look into, you can check it out at the link below.

Yes, there are definitely legitimate businesses that you can work from home. It may take some time to find one that suits your personality and goals, but don't give up until you find it. I spent months looking for the same thing and eventually stumbled across the perfect one for me. My nickname may give you a hint. :-) I asked a lot of questions, researched the company, and purchased some products before I signed up. Four years later, I am still glad I did. Feel free to email me for more details. Don't give up!

What do you like to do? If you enjoy fishing, why not a rod building business? If you enjoy shooting, why not a gunsmithing/reloading business? The most important thing is this, if you have an interest or a hobby, you can bet that someone else shares the same interests. You should do what you want to do in your business.

No. Be very careful. I've been trying to find something, too. Don't give anyone personal info about you.....social security number, credit card number, etc. Let me know if you find something legit. You can check them all out with the better business bureau.

Twice is more than enough. Remember you never have to pay upfront for a job. If you realy want to work at home, get a sales job from a company with an office in your town, work from their office and once you learn the ropes then work from home. Its important that they have a local office because the other way to get scamed other than upfront fee,is making sales for a company thats in another state and they dont pay you your commissions.Keep trying just be more carefull ,good luck.

Yes there most certainly are! Make sure the company is on the stock exchange, and backed by reputable people, has positive cash reserves, pays well, and shares profits with the employees. An example to check out is

1. Sell stuff on Ebay! Some people buy stuff on Ebay, then sell it again at a higher price!
2. "Pattern Day Trading." Buy and sell shares of stock in a single company, every day. Some people claim to make money at it. Sounds like fun. You need $25,000 to start with, and you could lose some of that.
