No. Laptop drives are slower than desktop drives. Desktop drives are also pretty cheap, so it would be a false economy to reuse the laptop drive. What I would do, however, is get an enclosure for the laptop drive so you could connect it via USB to your desktop computer and use it for backups or additional storage.

U could use both. Either way u need to get an adapter to put on your laptop hd and connect to the IDE cable. A local electronix store might have one or buy one off ebay. Type in the search "laptop ide connector adaptor (or er)" The only should cost less than 5 bucks. U might have to configure the jumpers on the hard drives- note their current positions!! first.
But if they have different operating systems it is best to go with the laptop drive only. Dont forget to connect the power supply to the laptop hd. If all else fails, just forget the project and put the jumper on the pc hd back where it was. U might try eperimenting with different jumper combos.

that depends on the connectors
sata or ide, sata power cable or molex, or must use adapter
if the connectors are the same, then go ahead

laptop hd is smaller than desktop hd
2.5 vs 3.5 inch
lower access time 5400rpm vs 7200 or 10000
you must fit it into the case
so it won't move at all

you must be very creative
great

It is not ideal but it might work if you can get the connectors to fit.
Laptop components typically are slower, smaller and more expensive than desktop components.
