MOST o fthe people who have immigrated to America over the last two centuries did not speak English (which is our language, not "American).--iand that almost certainly includes at least one (or more) of YOUR ancestors As they lived and worked here, they gradually learned the language. And, yes, people who live in the US should learn how to speak english. That doesn't mean that they SHOULD NOT speak their own language when they want.
